Farmland bird count in full flight

It is that time of year again when we need our binoculars at the ready and bird ID books to hand. Yes, it is the Big Farmland Bird Count and for anyone that missed it, here is all the information from our associates, the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT).

To add a bit of spice to the proceedings, we are offering a free NNCG tie to the farmer who counts the  greatest variety of bird species on their land. Please send your count results to Sarah via email (a screen shot of your official count sheet is acceptable). Happy birding!

We’re delighted to announce that the 2024 GWCT Big Farmland Bird Count is now underway!

Why are we counting?
The BFBC offers a simple way of recording the effect of any conservation schemes currently being initiated by farmers and gamekeepers on their land and is a useful way of gaining insight into how their birds are faring.
